9punto5 takes your privacy seriously. To better protect your privacy, 9punto5 provides this privacy policy notice, which explains how your personal information is collected and used.

  • We respect your privacy; we always have and we always will.
  • If you take part in the conference, which is supported with public funds from CORFO, we must provide that agency with attendee data and the statistical information required by the funding instruments. Part of that information is the same we ask you to fill in during some registration processes.
  • Outside those legal obligations, we do not sell or share your data for commercial purposes.
  • We do not SPAM, we never have and we never will; we do not send commercial emails unless you have chosen to receive them, and you will always have the option to unsubscribe from that kind of correspondence.

What data we collect and why

We collect the data we need to organize the 9punto5 conference: managing your account, processing applications, selling tickets, communicating with you about the event and keeping the experience safe for everyone who takes part in the community.

In practice, the data we collect (and, explicitly, some data we do not collect) is:

Identity and access

To interact with our products and take part in our studies, we will usually ask for your name and email address. This lets us identify you so that you can access your information and our products, and so that we can send you payment documents, updates or other essential information.

Sending emails: Let us be clear right away: We do not SPAM, we never have and we never will; we do not send commercial emails unless you have chosen to receive them, and you will always have the option to unsubscribe from that kind of correspondence.

Billing information

When you buy a ticket, payment and billing data are processed by Bolder (formerly Bootic), a sales platform that uses third-party services such as Stripe, Mercadopago and Webpay.

Geolocation

We log all your access to our products through your IP address to verify that no unauthorized access (sign-in) occurs. We keep this access data for our services for as long as your account is active.

We record the IP address you use to create an account in our products. We keep this data forever because we use it to mitigate spam sign-ups.

Web analytics, described below under Web interaction, is also associated with the IP address to help us troubleshoot problems and improve our strategy.

Web interaction

We record basic interaction with the site, such as which pages you visit, load times and where you came from, to understand how the application is used and improve the experience. That information may be associated with your IP address and, if you are signed in, with your account.

We also use the Meta pixel to measure whether our ads on Instagram and Facebook lead to visits and ticket purchases. When you visit public pages of the site, start a purchase or complete it, Meta receives that event, the purchase amount and technical data about your browser. When you start a purchase and when payment is confirmed, our server also sends Meta your email, your first name, your first surname and an internal identifier of your account, each converted into an irreversible code (SHA-256 hash) and never in readable text. Meta compares those codes with those of its own accounts to find out whether the purchase came from an ad. We do not send it the data of attendees. You can review how Meta uses this information in the ad settings of your Meta account.

Anti-bot

Clerk and other providers we use for account access may apply anti-bot measures to mitigate “brute force” access attempts and SPAM.

Cookies and Do Not Track

We use “persistent first-party cookies” to store preferences and make it easier for you to access our applications. A “cookie” is a piece of text stored by your browser to help it remember your sign-in details, preferences and more. You can adjust how long cookies are kept in your browser. To learn about cookies, including how to see which cookies are being used, how they are managed and how to delete them, please visit allaboutcookies.org.

The Meta pixel stores its own measurement cookies (for example, _fbp) to relate your visit to an ad. You can delete or block them from your browser.

Correspondence and voluntary data

When you write to us with a question or ask for help, we keep that conversation, including your email address, so that we have the history of past conversations to refer to if needed in the future.

We also store any information you provide voluntarily, such as surveys and forms. Sometimes we interview our customers; we may ask your permission to record the conversation to use it as a reference in the future. We only do so with your express consent.

Applications and tickets

If you submit content to the conference or buy a ticket, we use the information you give us to manage your participation, evaluate applications where applicable and communicate with you about the event. In some registration processes we will also ask for additional data when it is needed for the conference or to meet obligations associated with the event’s public funding.

Conference emails

These are the emails we may send you about the conference:

  • The notice that there is a ticket in your name.
  • If you buy tickets for other people, a summary of whom we sent each one to.
  • Your entry QR code, when you generate it.
  • Reminders while you have not generated your QR code.
  • The confirmation of, and changes to, your registrations for workshops and other activities with limited spots.
  • The confirmation of your registration for the Paillaco gathering, with your pass.
  • Practical information about the event, such as venues and schedules.
  • The delivery of the digital products you buy.

If someone else bought a ticket for you or assigned one to you, that person gave us your name and email; if it is a complimentary ticket, the 9punto5 team entered them. We use that data to let you know about the ticket and to write to you about the event, for example to send you your entry QR code. The ticket notice says who assigned it to you.

These emails are event communications, not advertising. If you do not want to receive them, reply to any of them or write to us at hola@9punto5.cl or contacto@9punto5.cl and we will stop sending them.

Public funds and reports to CORFO

9punto5 receives support from public funds administered by the Corporación de Fomento de la Producción de Chile (CORFO). That funding requires us to provide statistical information about the conference and also data about the attendees. We do so because the public instruments that govern that support require it: it is a condition of the funding, not a commercial use of your information.

The attendee data we report to CORFO is the same data we ask you to fill in during the conference registration processes (for example, when you register your ticket or confirm your participation) when the form states that the information is needed for the reports of the supported project.

Those reports are limited to what CORFO requests within the framework of the supported project. This does not mean that we sell your data or share it with third parties unrelated to that obligation.

When we access or share your information

Our normal practice is not to access your information. The times we may access what you write are:

  • To provide support for the products or services in which you have reported a problem or question. That is, if you write to us saying that something does not work, we may need to access your account to find out what is happening.
  • To safeguard 9punto5 and our products. If we believe that your actions violate our terms of service or pose a risk to us or to our users or employees, we may review your actions in detail. When I say we believe, we mean that there is evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, not simply because someone says so.
  • To meet obligations arising from CORFO public funds, providing that agency with attendee data and the statistical information required by the project’s funding instruments, including the information you filled in during registration processes when it applies to those reports.
  • To investigate, prevent or take action regarding activities we deem illegal.

Where we store your information

Conference data (applications, profiles, imported tickets and other information we keep in the application) is stored in Convex, our database and backend, in the US East (N. Virginia) region, United States.

The website is published on Cloudflare Workers. Accounts and sign-in are managed by Clerk. Ticket sales take place on Bolder (formerly Bootic); from there we import the information needed to show you your tickets in the dashboard. Meta receives the ad measurement events described under Web interaction.

Conference emails are sent by Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States), which acts as a data processor on our behalf. Resend processes your name, your email and the content of each message, including your QR codes and your personal links. Emails are sent from servers in São Paulo, Brazil, but Resend stores the messages and their logs in the United States for 30 days, under a data processing agreement that includes standard contractual clauses. We do not track opens or clicks.

So that we do not send you the same email twice and stop writing to addresses that bounce or that asked not to receive more emails, we keep in Convex a record of each delivery with the type of email, its status, its dates and an irreversible code (hash) of the address, never the address in readable text. For registrations to the Paillaco gathering, the record also keeps an irreversible code of the IP address you registered from, to limit abusive sending. We keep those records until December 31, 2026.

When you buy tickets from 9punto5.cl, we temporarily store the data of the buyer, of each named attendee and, where applicable, the names, declared ages and requested childcare days of minors who will attend in their care, before redirecting you to the Bolder checkout. We use that data to link the paid order to your tickets, manage entry and childcare, solve purchase problems and review incomplete transactions; we do not publish full email addresses in operational alerts. Abandoned checkouts (without confirmed payment) are kept for up to 30 days for operational support and then anonymized; issued tickets are kept for as long as they are needed for the event.

These providers apply industry-standard security practices. Information is transmitted encrypted between your browser, our services and the providers involved in each process.

Changes and questions

We may update this policy when necessary to comply with regulatory requirements and to reflect any new practice. When we update the policy, we will take all necessary steps to inform you according to the type of change, and we will also change the last updated date at the top of this policy.
